I am all for it. Lets take this from Gandhiji's perspective.....

I was confident on this before, you have just made me super confident.
I have been saying all along that one can get a same/similar job after 180 days irrespective of the whether I-140 was approved or not. I don't know why some people / lawyers spread so much mis-information on this topic.

For argument sake, if 1st I-140 is approved after, say 360 days, and the beneficiary is already working for the 2nd employer (after waiting for 182 days), what is the sanctity of 1st employer being willing and capable of hiring at this time when there is no intention of beneficiary to work for him.

Hi,
I did my landing last weekend. It went smoothly. At the port of entry ( at Niagra falls) Immigration officer said that my pictures that they have will not work and they took new pictures right there. The immigration offices also explained that if i am going back to US and then entering Canada again by land , all i need to show are the landing paper that he attached with my passport. If we plan to travel by air then it might cause some issues and its better to have the card. The thing that he made clear to me is that i do not need PR card to enter Canada again by land.

Yes, that helps a lot, thanks for the info. I am leaning towards abandoning the card for now; don't think I should risk a trip to Canada again if other options are available such as traveling by car. Plus if I understand it correctly I can get a travel document from the Canadian embassy too for air travel.

EDIT: I called up the CIC center in Canada just to confirm my options today. The person I talked to said that it's true that to enter by land, you don't need a PR card; however, you will need at least one photo ID issued by a Canadian govt agency such as a drivers license. The landing document alone won't be sufficient as it doesn't have a photograph. She advised that a travel document should be issued easily enough, as long as I've maintained the residency requirements.

unitednations was sharing valuable insight about the H1B denial trend in the begning. Then, every one started dragging him in to useless discussions with all kind of arguments.
How does it matter now?. Whether the mess was caused by desi companies alone or with the help of some guys who got H1 for their wife , brother, mother and the local policeman who learned SAP in a week, the damage is already done.

I am in the same boat.. came here in 1999.
Now my priority date is 2006. It took 3 years to get my labor with my previous company. Company filed chapter 11 within a week after my labor approved.
Moved to consutling company and started the whole process again..
What about people who were stuck for years in backlog and then got laid off and could not port their priority dates. I know a few who come came to US in 99 and now have a priority date of 2007 with a new employer....It should clearly be based on number of years of stay in US or expereince

Don't raise hope to much. Get a back up plan which you can be happy with. If you really like to be in the US and dislike going back, consider the asylum option, which could be very fast.

visa bulleting indicates what is going to happen to EB3-I for 2009-10 year, in next 3-4 months it will again become U, with date around Nov'01, and that's it, unless CIR get passed (don't know when........) with some urgently needed fix for EB category, it is hopeless atleast for EB3-I folks

For various reasons, I got my greencard 14 years after entering this country and 14years after getting my Ph.D. Life throws up challenges and we have to face them with courage.

Story of my life. I complain about delay with my application. Someone joins me and tells me they are in the same boat and the very next day that someone leaves the boat and jumps into "greener" pastures. Everyone is leaving the boat and I seem to be left out :(

The employer is not ready to file the 485, thinking that I may leave the company after 6 months.
I have the I-140 receipt notice , but no approval notice.

We posted our 485 application to Texas service center on May 31st and on 6th June they mailed us the receipt number for me and my wife.
