The number at the bottom of the poll is the number of individual voters. Since people can vote for multiple entries, you adding up the total number votes is just that - the total number of votes. It isn't the total number of people who voted.

If you look at those two forms, one 325A has a space for "Date and Place of Termination of Marriage". Form 325 does not have a space for that. They apparently want that information so you should update your filing with the proper form.

I'll. I am big foodie (from all places)...
We moved from Allentown, PA to Houston in 2008. As some of the other IVers have alluded, Houston is a BIG city (if you include the burbs that is). Most of the major roads are backed up during peak traffic hours and typical commute time start to be measured in hours.
Finding a place to live in Houston (read buying a house) can be a tough decision when you have so many choice. Things can be complicated if your spouse works and you have school going kids.
Some terms you will hear when you talk about location in houston:
1. Inside the Loop (610) which is the ring road that encircles downtown houston and the medical center. If you are not in the energy corridor, you are most likely to work within the loop. However finding a place to live within the loop can be challenging (that is if you are looking for a house in the sub 1 mil category). Good neighborhoods within the loop are riveroaks, memorial. There are some decent neighborhoods in the medical center montrose area but the schools (publlic schools) may not be to your liking.
When we moved, we initially rented near the medical center (a highrise called mosaic, opposite herman park) and put our daughter in a daycare called Creme De La Creme in downtown.
2. Inside the Beltway (8) which is the outer ring road that encircles houston. You have to be really careful if you choose to live in the area between 610 and 8 as there are some very shady areas. West (along I 10) is mostly fine.
3. Outside the beltway is where you have most of your master planned communites (read burbs). Down south (along 59) you have sugarland. West (along 10) you have Katy (and most of the energy companies). Northwest (along 290) you have Lakewood, Tomball (along 249), spring cypress etc. North (along 45) you have woodlands northeast (along 59 north) you have spring, kingwood and east (again along 45 east) is League City (read NASA).
The main things to consider are (at least I did when I bought a house)
1. Safety : There are some very shady parts of town.
2. School District (ISD)
3. Commute : Both current and future (if you were to change your place of employment). Say now you work downtown and chose to live in sugarland and a year later you found yourself a Job in the woodlands, you will have to move or deal with a 2 hour 1 way commute !
4. Availability of public transport: Which in most cases is non existent in Houston. But they do have a good commuter bus system from several places in the burbs if you work downtown. Lots of employers that have offices downtown will subsidize this. This can be a decent chunk of change as parking downtown will typically run you about $200/month.
These are the salient points that I could think of.

I just did some further reading and research, and it appears that an H1 could do the following if this bill passed tomorrow.
1. Quit their job
2. Form an LLC and self-employ
3. File for 218D status. Once this is approved, you are able to work anywhere. It's not clear if there will be a filing procedure or not.
4. Wait six years.
5. File for green card. Note that 218D requires you to work for the entire six years - but it can be full-time, part-time, self-employment or full time study.
I can't believe it could be that simple. The only downside is that there might be 10 million people in the queue for 218D, so it will probably be backlogged until 2026!

Thanks guys for your support. Its not that I didn't want to contribute and I will definetely do it once I get my H1 visa stamped.
Status Update -
Manager is working actively on getting all the documents ready including detailed job description, requriements that were posted when I joined, vendor letter stating they cannot provide the master agreement with detailed duties. My client lawyers have asked the vendor not to share the master agreeement otherwise it will be a breach of contract, so there is nothing much my manager can do.
My company has already prepared a letter to show work schedule if I get out of work with current client.
So now I have almost all the letters that I have been asked for but I'm still not sure if I will get the visa without the master agreement. Do I have a choice?

Does anybody know which is the current processing date for audited PERM cases? DOL claims March -May 2007 PDs, but I personalley know people filed in Oct 2007 and got audited due to Fragomen are approved. And also can somebody confirm if there is only one processing center (Atlanta) for PERM processing

The agency placed these proposals on its agenda this year and surely enough, it has initiated the first part of its agenda in its rule-making vault. The agency drafted and has been seeking the OMB approval for proposed regulation to require pre-registration of the H-1B petitions, apparently as part of its business transformation transition program. It appears that the proposed pre-registration requirement in the H-1B petition process may not bring a drastic impact on the H-1B petitioning employers and the alien beneficiaries. However, its agenda for requiring I-485 applicants to pre-register their intents to file I-485 applications regardless of the visa number availability in the Visa Bulletin will have a significant impact on the immigrants because the proposed rule would discontinue the concurrent filing process for employment-based adjustment of status applicants and would require that an alien seeking to immigrate based upon a classification that is subject to numerical limitations must be the beneficiary of an approved immigrant petition prior to proceeding through a revised adjustment of status process. In plain language, it means that it would terminate the current I-140 and I-485 concurrent filing procedure. The agency justification was to streamline the overall I-485 process and to mitigate visa retrogression through improved estimation of immigrant visa availability. This proposal is still in the vault of the USCIS rule-making agenda with the initial estimation of the proposed rule initiation action in October 2010. We have no information as to whether or not the agency will keep this schedule or will rather turn it over to FY 2011. Whether it initiates sooner or later, it will not have an immediate impact on the foreign workers seeking a green card as the rule-making process will drag into months to come in year 2011. But this is something one has to keep an eye on the development of the USCIS schedules of changes in application procedures. I have also applied for the canadian PR 1.5 months ago. Yesterday I got a letter from canadian consulate to sit for IELTS as I am clamming 16 points on language skill with supporting documents. Now, I do not want to sit for IELTS..is there any way out? Do you guys know any small consulting firm in canada who can give me a HRSDC approved job offer? I will not mind to work for them for a year if I get my PR (it's better then waiting for GC for another 10 years)...
I had sent my application 3 months ago w/o IELTS and had given myself 16 points. I did write a paragraph explaining that throughout my schooling in India the medium of instruction was english and i have an American bachelors degree and have been working here.
Last month I got a letter from Buffalo asking me to submit results of IELTS exam that substantiates my assesment of 16 points. It also said that if i did not submit IELTS results they will evaluate and assess points on their own.
I am planning to take the exam, since i am border line with 70 points and can not afford to loose points. But if you have say 80-85 points, you may not take it and let them assess you whatever they want, may be 8 or even less points and you could still qualify.

My OPT expires around May.I believe the best way is to join some school rather than going for any other Visa Category?isnt it?
Btw ,I asked many lawyers about the OPT extension and they said there is a very little chance that USCIS will approve it unless you have a very very good reason.They are not fools afterall...
I have a Masters from here..and I will be on my F1 again.Offcourse as expected ,the H1B is going to run out in less than a month next year.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks and wait for ur response. Also i wanted to know whether my employer or lawyer will come to know if i apply for FOIA, and will it affect my application. Another thing is my employer is not responding whether my 140 is approved or not. so i really don;t know the status of my application and he is not willing to give me the receipt #.

Hi all,
I have received my EAD in oct 07 and my AP last month, with my spouse being primary applicant. Currently I am on h1b, however, I have a better offer at hand thro another employer who does not sponsor h1b. I was searching for posts on comparing h1b vs ead..but could not locate one.
Could someone enlighten me on this issue as to what wld be common issues that are raised if one switches to ead (other than the possibility of being out of status). I am presuming that if my spouse stays on h1b I can switch to h4 status if required?
Please advice..I need to make a decision this weekend!!

can i invoke a AC21 on future gc..I did not work for this company, i am tired of my current company, they have exploited me and my personality is changing and i forgotten to live life, want to port and move on to a new company ? is AC21 on future GC consider legal or fraud.?

3+3 are routinely accepted. I would be shocked if this is the reason. You should know the reason very soon. I know it is very hard to wait, but there is no choice.
In my case, it was B.Sc + M.C.A (3 + 3) years education and applied it on EB2 Category. I know of a lot of cases with M.C.A approved on EB2 category. So, I am not sure if this would be reason for it.

I would have love to see a section to show that we are law-abiding and the contribution of our family to our community and the economy. For instance my son has graduated college and now working, paying taxes and contributing to the US economy. And I am sure that most of you here who have college age kids are sending them to colleges and sometimes even paying out-of-state tuition to boot.
